Boiga dendrophila dendrophila,

commonly called the Gold Ringed Cat  Snake, is a species of Opisthoglypha (rear-fanged colubrid) from the Philippines averaging 3-5 feet in length. It is considered mildy venomous but no fatalities have been reported.

Typical characteristics as any other Boiga complex with large eyes and round head that flattens when provoked. B.d.dendrophila has the look of black background and yellow, sometimes white rings around the body;with a yellow spot often in front of and/or behind the eye,  a mostly nocturnal snake.

Overall a defensive species and dendrophila do not make an exception to that rule. Although some specimens will calm down and tolerate some handling, safely precautions should always be taken by the handler. Hooks strongly recommended.

Coming from their native lands in Indonesia, they thrive in a humid, warm rainforest set up. I keep my dendrophila all bioactive and live planted and are thriving. They are particularly stubborn with food and only take live mice or anoles for me.
