Thrasops jacksonii ,

commonly called jacksons tree snake, they are a species of Opisthoglypha (rear-fanged colubrid) from the africa that average 5-7 feet in length. It is considered mildy venomous. no fatalities have been reported.

Typical characteristics are their  enlarged eyes and coffin shaped head somewhat resembling a black mamba. they puff their throat out in defense when provoked. overall a diurnal and highly arboreal species.

they're known to be on a much more nervous level than many colubrids, which makes them flighty and sometimes difficult to work with. hooks are highly recommended!

Coming from their native lands in Africa, they do best in a semi tropical habitat, warm with humidity levels fluctuating from 50-80%. I keep my thrasops all bioactive and live planted and are thriving. They eat a variety of prey items like chicken chicks, quail and mice in my care.
